http://www.cooperscoffee.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">United Coffee](http://www.unitedcoffeeuk.com) - one of Europe's biggest coffee roasters and a leading player in the UK out-of-home sector - has bought Huddersfield-based [Cooperscoffee company.

Coopers is a family-owned, premium-end company with an annual turnover of £1.9m that serves more than 500 independently-owned cafés and restaurants in the North-east.

It will retain its corporate identity as a standalone brand under the United Coffee umbrella.

"Acquiring the company will allow us to grow our northern base and increase our presence in the growing independent sector," said Elaine Higginson, managing director at United Coffee (UK and Ireland).
