Reduced-fat snacks from United Biscuits

Health concerns over saturated fats have prompted United Biscuits to slash the levels even further across some of its leading snacks.

From this month, an advertising campaign will highlight the 55% reduction across the Hula Hoops and Hula Hoops Ridges ranges, which are now made from 100% sunflower oil and (counting the fat reductions made last year) contain 80% less saturated fats than in 2005.

Fat levels are 50% lower in Skips and Discos (with similar reductions due in Frisps and Roysters from June), while the McCoy's, McCoy's Specials and McCoy's Specials Tortillas lines have seen saturated fat content drop by 30%. These snacks will now be made with a blend of sunflower oil and vegetable oil, and the reductions will be clearly labelled on packs.
