Tortilla planning up to nine openings in 2014

Mexican fast casual restaurant chain looks set to open between seven and nine new sites in 2014, as it continues its expansion across the country.

The business, founded in 2007 by Brandon Stephens and backed by YO! Sushi owner Quilvest, currently has 12 sites, with three more set to open by the end of this year.

The brand has already spread beyond its London roots, having opening in Leeds Trinity Kitchen earlier this autumn, and is set for sites in Watford, Brighton and Birmingham (opening 2015).

Speaking to Caterer and Hotelkeeper, Stephens said the business was looking at other UK cities for future openings including Manchester, Liverpool, Cardiff and Nottingham.

Stephens said that Tortilla eventually hoped to go well north of 40 sites nationwide, opening between six and ten sites per year for the next several years.

For a full interview with Brandon Stephens, watch out for the 6 December issue of Caterer and Hotelkeeper.
