HotBox team to launch Chuck Burger restaurant
The team behind London's burger and wings pop-up HotBox is to launch a new permanent restaurant called Chuck Burger.
The new venue will open on Commercial Street in London in June.
Husband and wife team Basit and Preeya Nasim have been serving burgers and wings from a converted Chevy Step Van at Street Feast's Hawker House since October 2015.
The venture was inspired by Basit Nasim's travels across America, and the menu has been guided by his favourite recipes from across the pond but using fresh British ingredients.
The Spitalfields restaurant will feature several HotBox favourites as well as new dishes.
Among the burgers on offer will be a classic cheeseburger, and bacon cheeseburger, alongside creations like the Devil Burger, a ground 28-day aged chuck steak patty topped with charred jalapenos, American cheese, grilled red onions, sriracha mayo, and topped with a green jalapeno sauce.
Sides and desserts will include: mac 'n' cheese balls; loaded fries with homemade nacho sauce and pancetta bacon bits; and American-style desserts such as key lime pie and the signature lazy sundae.
The restaurant will be set in a renovated classic east end London café. The design will retain the café's tiled floors and will be furnished with furniture handmade from reclaimed materials. Tables are original steel tube bases with reclaimed hard wood tabletops, while seating will be a mixture of wooden benches, vintage recycled chairs and stools.
Lighting will be a combination of metal tubes, chains, retro bulbs and reclaimed industrial factory lights. All artwork will be done in house by Chuck Burger staff including wall art and hand-painted logos.
