French gourmet burger brand Big Fernand to open in UK
French gourmet burger brand Big Fernand is to open its first restaurant in the UK.
The 2,100 sq ft two-floor site Percy Street, in London's Fitzrovia, secured by property agent Shelley Sandzer, is expected to open this coming autumn.
Trading over two floors, the new restaurant is set to be the first of many as the company has plans to expand the brand throughout the UK.
It currently operates four sites in France, including Lille, Lyon, as well as two in Paris, with a third planned to launch this month. More sites in France are planned for later this year.
Offering a French spin on the high-end burger trend, Big Fernand mixes the American classic with produce sourced on the continent. The Parisian-based franchise offers un-pasteurised French cheese as an addition to its self-titled ‘hamburgés'.
Mathieu Durand, UK ambassador for Big Fernand commented on the opening: "London, like Paris, has a fantastically vibrant food culture and it is a very exciting market.
"The city stood out to us straight away as the site to launch our first international restaurant, and we are very proud to be bringing Big Fernand across the Channel. Shelley Sandzer has been instrumental in helping us achieve this goal and they have secured us a busy and exciting debut location."
Kit Alexander, from Shelly Sandzer, added: "It is great to work with this exciting new brand, Big Fernand, on their expansion into the UK market. Launching international brands in London is one of our specialties and Big Fernand joins other recent launches such as Soupe de Jour and Kurobuta.
"Finding a location that will help make new concept a success is one of our main objectives, and we continually succeed due to a great breadth and wealth of experience."
