Francesco Mazzei to launch restaurant at Battersea Power Station

Italian chef Francesco Mazzei is to open his third London restaurant with D&D London at Battersea Power Station.

Fiume, which translates to river, will serve modern Italian style food under the watch of head chef Francesco Chiarelli.

Chiarelli has worked with Mazzei for five years, starting at L'Anima before moving to Sartoria. Prior to living in London, Chiarelli was head chef at the Ariha hotel, formerly Cosenza's Executive hotel in Calabria, Italy.

The 120-cover restaurant is part of the first phase of the £9b redevelopment project at Battersea Power Station, named Circus West Village.

It will feature an open kitchen complete with wood-fired oven, bar counter dining for 15 covers, and a terrace where up to 50 guests can dine al fresco.

Mazzei said: "When I saw the plans for Circus West Village and Battersea Power Station as a whole, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to be involved. It is a one-of-a-kind project that will attract people from all over the world and I cannot wait to feed them all!"

Other restaurants opening at Battersea Power Station include: Pedler Cru, Vagabond, Flour Power City Bakery, the CoffeeWorks Project, Mother - an Italian pizza restaurant, Wright Brothers, Dodd's Gin, Ben's Canteen and Duckroad.

Rob Tincknell, CEO of the Battersea Power Station Development Company, added: "Francesco Mazzei is an amazing chef with a strong track record and we are delighted that he has chosen Circus West Village at Battersea Power Station to unveil his new concept restaurant. It will add to the wide selection of food offerings, bars, and other businesses that will make this area such an incredible place to live, work or visit."

Mazzei's other two restaurants are Sartoria on Savile Row and Radici in Islington which opened in February.
