Finalists announced for Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year award
The finalists of the Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year in the National Fish and Chip Awards 2012 have been announced.
Organised by Seafish, the authority on seafood, the award recognises the best independently operated fish and chip restaurant in the UK.
Shops are assessed on a wide variety of judging criteria including product quality, customer service, food preparation procedures, hygiene, innovation, staff training and development, promotional activity and approaches to sustainable sourcing.
The shortlist of independent operators includes:
Seniors in Thornton, Lancashire
McDermotts in Croydon, Greater London
Quayside and Trenchers in Whitby, Yorkshire
RockFish in Dartmouth, Devon
Hanburys in Babbacombe, Devon
The winners of the National Fish and Chip Awards will be announced at a gala dinner in London on 17 January 2012.
With over 250 million fish and chip meals sold each year from over 10,500 shops across the UK, fish and chips remains the nation's favourite take-away.
