Zeal Hotels secures planing permission for £12.5m Bridgewater hotel

Zeal Hotels has secured planning permission for a 123-bedroom hotel in Bridgewater, Somerset.

The proposed 3-star hotel at the Woodlands Business Park in Bridgwater, close to the new Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, will cost £12.5m to develop.

It will be branded and run by hotel management company, though a deal is yet to be signed.

Zeal Hotels expects to be on site in early 2018 with an opening planned for early 2019.

Managing director Tim Wheeldon said: "Bridgwater is quickly becoming established as a major gateway to the South West and there is presently very little quality branded hotel accommodation within the immediate area. This location will not only benefit from the increasing transient M5 motorway traffic but more importantly it will service the increased demand from local businesses in the area."

"The development of the Hinckley Point C nuclear power station is also a factor and it is likely this will also provide demand for quality hotel accommodation at
a reasonable price."
