Whitworth Hall Hotel – former home of Bobby Shafto – falls into administration

The three-AA-star, 29-bedroom Best Western Whitworth Hall Hotel and Country Park has gone on the market for £1.25m after falling into administration.

The hotel is situated in a 23-acre deer park near Spennymoor, eight miles outside Durham.

Peter Bean, director at Colliers International, explained that the hotel, which is continuing to operate, will be sold on "a going concern" basis.

"Whitworth Hall has lovely function and dining facilities complemented by 29 en-suite letting bedrooms in a really special setting," he said.
