UK reports most hotel rooms under construction in Europe
The UK reported the most hotel rooms under construction within Europe in November, with 17,551 rooms in 149 hotels, according to STR.
A further three countries showed more than 5,000 rooms under construction: Germany (11,418 rooms in 54 hotels); Turkey (8,369 rooms in 50 hotels) and Russia (7,452 rooms in 38 hotels).
The November 2016 pipeline report highlighted 1,017 hotels totalling 156,368 rooms under contract in Europe, representing a 13.3% increase in rooms compared with November 2015.
The under contract data includes projects in construction, final planning and planning stages but does not include projects in the unconfirmed stage.
