Marriott rebrands Paris hotel
Marriott International has re-branded Paris' largest hotel convention centre following restoration of all 757 rooms and public areas. The Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Centre features 48,883sq ft of conference space, including a 13,240sq ft ballroom as well as a 160-seat auditorium and 40 banquet rooms. It also includes a duplex public space connected to the hotel lobby offering separate ‘nooks' for more casual meetings. The hotel bar serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails and snacks and offers Wi-Fi connection throughout. Adjacent to the business centre are two semi-private salons with flat-panel TVs and plug-in dataports. The hotel brings the company's portfolio of properties in Paris to eight.

New St Regis property opens in Florida
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has launched a new property in the USA with the opening of the St Regis Resort & Residences in Fort Lauderdale in Florida. The resort, which is located on Fort Lauderdale's pristine beachfront promenade, includes a 166-room hotel, 28 private residences and 34 hotel condominiums. It also offers a 29,000sq ft tropical pool deck with bar and grill, a wine room, restaurant with signature lobby bar, an oceanfront ballroom and a spa and fitness centre. The guestrooms and suites offer Wi-Fi internet access, DVD theatre entertainment system and a 13″ LCD panel TV in each bathroom.

Carlson buys additional Rezidor shares
Carlson Hotels Worldwide, which owns 35% of Brussels-based Rezidor Hotel, has announced that it is acquiring additional Rezidor shares from SAS Group of Stockholm bringing its ownership of Rezidor to 41.7%. Following the transaction, SAS will no longer hold a stake in Rezidor. Separately the company has entered its Park Inn hotel brand into a co-operation agreement with German airline Germanwings to present an airplane with the brand's colour mosaic design as well as with the slogan "Sleep Well. Live Well". The airbus A-319 with 142 seats will be part of the Germanwings' network for three years. Park Inn and Germanwings also agreed upon a strategic partnership, which covers advertisement, on-board media, loyalty marketing and firm contracts for hotel rooms as well as flights.

IHG launches first Candlewood Suites outside USA
InterContinental Hotels Group is to launch its first Candlewood Suites hotel outside the USA is with the opening of a new property in Montréal, Canada, next month. The 147-room Candlewood Suites Montréal-Centre Ville is one of several properties the brand expects to develop in Canada over the next few years. The hotel will feature the 24-hour Candlewood Cupboard, which will provide a variety of value-priced beverages, breakfast items, healthy snacks, frozen entrees and other sundries which can be purchased on the honour system at any time. In addition to another Candlewood Suites hotel approved for Toronto, the brand is also targeting key markets in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, along with further development in Ontario and Quebec.
