Local authorities to pitch for new casino sites

The Government's Casino Advisory Panel has invited local authorities to pitch for one of the 17 new casinos planned under the new Gambling Act to be in their area.

It has also launched a three-month consultation (ending 2 May, 2006) on its newly-published transitional arrangements for implementing the act from 1 September 2007 (click here for details).

Guidance on the evidence the panel requires from local authorities has been published at: www.culture.gov.uk/CAP

Local authorities have until 3 March to make their bid for a new casino.

The panel will present its recommendations on the new sites by the end of the year.
