Former Claridge's chef buys and refurbishes Cheshire hotel

Andrew Bourne, who formerly worked as head pastry chef at Claridge's hotel in London, has bought and refurbished the Alexandra Court hotel in Congleton.

With the support of a six-figure loan from HSBC UK, a new outdoor veranda and sitting area has been created at the Victorian property, as well as a complete redecoration of all 14 individually designed rooms.

Bourne said: "We aim to provide affordable luxury accommodation for the area and create a unique boutique venue for family celebrations and business meetings."

John Paulson, relationship manager for South Cheshire and North Staffordshire, HSBC UK, added: "The Alexandra Court hotel has a strong reputation and, with Andrew at the helm, we are certain the business will continue to flourish. We wish them every success for the future."
