Deadline extended for Von Essen bids
The deadline for bids for the Von Essen portfolio of hotels has been extended until 19 August.
Christie + Co, which is marketing the 26 hotels in the UK, one in France and a development opportunity on Thorn Island, off the coast of Pembrokeshire, said that extra time will allow more offers to be made for the whole group or individual properties.
"We have extended the deadline as this has been a very complicated process due to the sheer weight of offers made so far," said a spokesperson for the property group.
Bids for the group as a whole, for a price in excess of £200m, are being invited as well as offers for the individual properties. The most expensive are Cliveden in Taplow, Berkshire (pictured) at £35m and the Royal Crescent in Bath at £22.5m.
The Von Essen hotels were put up for sale after the company went into administration, with debts of more than £250m, in April.
Hotel Verta, the new-build London property launched by Von Essen last year, is now also being prepared for sale. The 70-bedroom hotel, which was owned separately by Von Essen's founder Andrew Davis, went into administration last week.
