VisitEngland announces Awards for Excellence finalists

Rockliffe Hall in County Durham and Brockencote Hall hotel in Worcestershire are among the finalists of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014.

The tourism body has announced the finalists in 15 categories before the awards are announced on 12 May at a ceremony at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Each finalist will receive wither a gold, silver, bronze or highly commended in their category.

VisitEngland chief executive James Berresford said: "Each finalist is already a winner and can take justifiable pride and credit in earning a coveted place in the top five in their category in England, and in the contribution they make to an industry worth £106b to the economy, supporting 2.6 million jobs. I wish all our finalists the very best of luck for the awards ceremony in May."
