Heathrow Terminal 2 opens today, including host of restaurants and cafés
The new Terminal 2 at London Heathrow Airport has now opened, including a host of restaurants, cafés and pubs.
The venue houses restaurants including Heston Blumenthal's Perfectionists' Café, the Gorgeous Kitchen (from chefs Jo Pratt, Sophie Michel, Caroline Mili Artiss and Gee Charman) and the TRG and Giraffe venture Wondertree, which at over 5,000 sq ft and 210 covers is the largest restaurant in the terminal.
There is also a branch of healthy fast food group Leon, a new site from small Italian coffee chain Ca'puccino, a Wetherspoon pub called the Flying Chariot and other already established brands such as Café Nero and Yo! Sushi.
The owners have reportedly worked hard to avoid the problems that hit Terminal 5 when it opened in 2008. These included staff getting lost, delays to flights, and thousands of pieces of passenger luggage not reaching their destination.
The first plane to land in Terminal 2 this morning was a United Airlines flight from Chicago.
