Alistair-Hugo awarded Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark

London caterer Alistair-Hugo has been awarded the Soil Association's Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark in recognition of its sustainably farmed, ethically sourced and nutritional food.

The Acton-based company has a team of around 40 staff who provide healthy lunches for to up to 50 bookings each day. These include a range of business functions, corporate meetings and professional events, and the 283 students of L'Ecole Internationale Franco Anglaise, a private school in the City of Westminster.

Alistair Shaw, co-founder and director of Alistair-Hugo, said: "We are very proud to have achieved the Catering Mark because it demonstrates our continued commitment to producing the best food possible for people across London.

"We want people to have confidence that they are eating the freshest food available at their business meetings, events or at school."

Shaw went on to say that a few small changes have had a big effect, like working with their local butcher to ensure all their meat was farm-assured, and removing any remaining additives and trans-fats from their menus.

The Soil Association's Food for Life Catering Mark provides a framework designed to improve the standard of catered food. It aims to promote fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and use long-standing relationships with suppliers, sustainable produce and food free of additives. It also considers animal welfare, favouring farm-assured, ethical meat suppliers.
