Golfer buys lease on Nottingham style bar

A golfing professional has bought the lease on the Brass Monkey style bar in the heart of Nottingham.

New owner Himesh Patel from Mansfield has also enjoyed local singing success and performed on ITV's Pop Idol.

The late-night bar occupies a four-storey end-of-terrace property in the Lace Market, one of Nottingham's prime night spots.

The Brass Monkey, which attracts largely students and young professionals, is known for its cocktail menu.

It is licensed for 135 people in the main ground floor bar and a further 65 on the first-floor bar, which has a roof garden.

There is potential for an owners' or managers' flat on the second and third floors, which currently incorporate a staff room and office space.

The Nottingham office of Christie + Co was seeking offers of £275,000 for the remaining 29 years on the current free-of-tie lease.
