Hotels

David Morgan has joined the 102-bedroom Doncaster Moat House hotel as general manager. He previously held the same role at the Wigan Moat House.

The four-star, 56-bedroom Botleigh Grange Hotel in Southampton, Hampshire, has appointed Matthew Carr head chef. Matthew was formerly the executive head chef at the Marriott Goodwood Park Hotel in West Sussex.

The board of Travel Inn has appointed a new property director. Deborah Parker joined the budget hotel chain from retail company Woolworths, where she was head of acquisitions.

InterContinental Hotels Group has promoted John Merkin to vice president of franchise operations for North America. John has 17 years' experience in the company, most recently as director of hotel innovations and channel marketing for Holiday Inn.

Miguel Amaral has been appointed European business development manager for Sol Meliá Hotels and Resorts. He leaves his position as business development manager at InterContinental Hotel Group.

Restaurants and bars

Jamie Halliday, former head chef at the Millennium Madejski Hotel in Reading, Berkshire, has opened his own 40-seat restaurant, Belle Bistro, in Newcastle upon Tyne. Joining Jamie as restaurant manager is Colin Mennim, who has managed several bars and restaurants in the city.

Illustrious Lounging, a new restaurant and bar company, has started recruiting for its first venue, Sante, in Lancaster. Dan Mullen joins as chef-director from the Twelve restaurant in Thornton, Lancashire, where he was head chef. Craig Cunningham leaves his general manager position at bar operator Urbium to take on the same role. Sante will have a bar capacity of 175 and the restaurant will seat 64.

Andrew Evans has joined events organiser Fresh RM as managing director. He will oversee the company's food, drink and hospitality exhibitions. Andrew has 17 years' exhibitions experience and most recently he was commercial director of events organiser Brintex.

The Arts Club, a conference and events venue in London's Mayfair, has appointed Ian Dulson to the position of sales manager. Ian has previously worked as sales and marketing manager at Planet Hollywood in London.

John Quinn has left his job as executive head chef at the Corinthian restaurant in Glasgow to take up the same role at the nearby Cookery School. The school runs cookery courses for the trade and the public.
