Hotels

The new 224-bedroom Ramada Hotel & Suites London Docklands has appointed Cian Courtney as general manager. Cian has opened a number of hotels for Holiday Inn after completing the company's graduate training programme.

Virgin Hotels, which has four properties in the UK, South Africa, the British Virgin Islands and Morocco, has appointed a new financial and commercial director, Gary Powell. Gary has worked for three years with Virgin Management, latterly as investment manager.

Fumio Moroi has been appointed president and chief executive officer for Japan and senior vice president for Accor Asia Pacific. Fumio was previously chief executive officer of Majestic & Company, a hospitality asset advisor in Japan.

Restaurants

Russell Pollard has joined the River's Edge Brasserie at the Carlton Mitre Hotel in Hampton Court, Surrey. Russell takes on the role of executive head chef at the 65-seat riverside brasserie. He previously worked at Whites in London.

Pubs and bars

The board of Greene King has welcomed Norman Murray as a non-executive director. Norman, who will take up his post in January, is chairman of oil and gas company Cairn Energy.

Catering supplier Brakes has a new group chief executive, Bill Driscoll. Bill joins the company after a 27-year career with the General Electric Company, where he was vice president and general manager of GE Silicone.
