Forte plays down sale rumours

Granada-owned Forte Hotels has denied rumours that it has put a package of 15 Posthouses up for sale. But the company admits some properties are likely to be sold off this year.

"There has been no clear decision taken on the future of any Posthouse properties at present," said a spokesman. But he added: "Like any hotel asset of this size, there is always some churn to maintain the consistency of the brand. Some properties are always under review."

Forte is also trying to sell a batch of 10 Heritage hotels which it says no longer fit in with its strategy (Caterer, 24 December 1998, page 5).
