Face facts about juice

More juice is consumed with breakfast than any other drinking occasion. One glass of fruit juice counts as one of the five portions of fruit and vegetables that should be eaten every day. Consumers are aware of this and that fruit juices contain vitamins and nutrients.

These are just some of the conclusions from the new Juice Report 2001, published by Tropicana UK Ltd, in association with A C Nielsen.

The £3.2 billion cold beverage market has increased by 2.5 per cent, with juice holding the largest share at 31.2 per cent.

Although orange juice will always be the cornerstone of the category, the consumer's need for all day refreshment will be met by different flavours and flavour combinations. Cranberry has a strong presence and is growing by 36.4 per cent year on year.
