Coldroom choice
Evolution hand-held logging thermometers are designed to check food temperatures in either "walkabout" or "static" modes and can also store readings within the instrument's memory, ready for printing out or downloading to a PC for a permanent record of results.
In walkabout mode, up to 99 temperature check locations can be pre-programmed into the instrument via the software which also allows a choice of route to be pre-programmed. in static mode, the instrument can be used to automatically log temperatures from a selected location at selected Intervals. An alarm gives audible and visual warning - on the display and on print-outs - of any temperatures outside the selected high and low levels.
Another development from Comark, the Pocketherm pocket sized thermometer, has an LCD display and three LEDs which instantly identify different temperature zones (yellow for frozen, green for chilled and red for cooked) to minimise the possibility of errors and aid HACCP procedures.
The unit also features a probe which doubles as an automatic on-off switch, folding neatly along the side of the instrument when not in use. Temperature resolution is to 0.1¼ºC. Units come in a choice of a thermistor or type T thermocouple.
