The caterer will oversee the Nuthatch Kitchen and Terrace at the estate
Event caterer Seasoned has been appointed catering partner at Herstmonceux Castle Estate in East Sussex.
The London, Sussex and South East-based caterer will oversee the Nuthatch Kitchen and Terrace at the estate, which takes its name from the chestnut-loving Nuthatch birds that populate its surroundings.
The Seasoned team will prepare fresh food for the café and at a later date support weddings and events hosted at the castle.
Herstmonceux Castle dates back to the 15th century and is famed for its red-brick architecture, moat and landscaped gardens.
Paul Boon, chief venues officer at Seasoned and a former Acorn winner, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing our experience to Herstmonceux Castle – an extraordinary venue with a remarkable history and real sense of occasion. The Nuthatch Kitchen and Terrace is a lovely space, and we’re looking forward to creating a welcoming, vibrant experience for visitors. We’re also excited about the possibility of working with couples celebrating their weddings here and supporting events across the estate, while building strong relationships with local producers.”
Dr Matthew Evans, provost and vice-principal (academic) at Queen’s University, which owns the estate, added: “Seasoned’s passion for quality, local produce, and its track record at heritage venues made it the ideal partner for this next chapter. The Nuthatch Kitchen and Terrace will be a real asset for our visitors, and we’re excited to see the plans come to life. The name itself – inspired by the Nuthatch birds that make their home in our ancient woodlands – feels like a perfect fit for who we are.”
The caterer recently secured a catering contract with Haberdashers’ Hall in the City of London, starting from April.
Seasoned also delivers catering services at the Brighton Centre, Chichester Cathedral, the Royal Pavilion and Sea Life Brighton.
Terms of the deal with Herstmonceux Castle were not disclosed.
