From the long-awaited Six Senses London celebrating urban wellness, alchemy and seasonality to the return of the once premium casual dining staple Jamie’s Italian at London’s Leicester Square, it’s clear there is huge appetite for all kinds of hospitality experiences.

Prolific restaurateur Markus Thesleff has launched Sale e Pepe Mare at the Langham, London. It comes roughly three years after the group acquired the original Knightsbridge outpost, which dates back to 1974. The 5,000 sq ft Sale e Pepe Mare celebrates the flavours of the Mediterranean throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner, and also offers a Champagne and Negroni trolley to add a touch of theatre.

Forza Wine, the Italian-ish wine bars and restaurants from childhood friends and co-founders Bash Redford and Michael Lavery, has expanded into London’s Soho. The 100-cover restaurant also features a 70-cover outdoor space, making this their largest site to date. The always-changing 12 dish menu can be paired to a varied selection of natural wines and cocktails.

The former home to the BBC’s Kensington House recording studios has been transformed into Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherd’s Bush. The 231-bedroom property features Flock restaurant, headed by chef Sami Saygi, and will soon welcome the K West Spa, which is to include six treatment rooms, a Thermal Suite, two spa gardens and a fully equipped gym.

Jamie Oliver has partnered with Prezzo Italian to relaunch Jamie’s Italian in London’s Leicester Square. The 140-cover flagship restaurant is spread over three floors and also features a bar serving Jamie’s Italian Tuscan wine on tap. Despite the closure of Jamie’s Italian in the UK in 2019, the brand has thrived abroad, with over 30 locations across 15 countries.

Chef Sally Abé is opening her first standalone restaurant, Teal by Sally Abé, in the former site of Sesta and Pidgin in London’s Hackney. She is joined by head chef Abbie Hendren, who was previously based at Sam’s Waterside in London’s Hammersmith, and co-owner Abe Drewry, who worked with Abé while she was head of food at the Bull in Charlbury, for the launch of the British bistro.

Raymond de Fazio, owner of Cent Anni in London’s Wimbledon Village, has brought the informal Italian restaurant to London’s St John’s Wood. Taking over the former site of Café Med, the 48-cover diner also features a 60-cover terrace and two private dining rooms. Menus are overseen by head chef Elton Souta da Silva, offering a mix of classic and contemporary Italian dishes.

British steakhouse MRBL has launched in the City of London’s historic Leadenhall Market. The 75-cover restaurant is spread across two floors, complete with a private dining room and outdoor terrace. Meat is supplied by HG Walter and each cut is aged with Himalayan salt before being cooked over charcoal. The kitchen is led by executive chef Matt Colk, previously of Aviary Rooftop & Restaurant.

Sam and Georgie Pearman, the pair behind boutique hotel and pub operator Country Creatures, have launched the Wild Duck Inn in the town of Ewen, Southern Cotswolds. The sixteenth century coaching inn has been transformed into a Gothic-style bar, a 110-cover restaurant led by head chef Richard Sandiford and 19 new bedrooms.

Wulf & Lamb in London’s Marylebone has been transformed into new Greek restaurant Clio, with executive chef Glen Ballis and head chef Louis Korovilas, formerly of Locanda Locatelli and Pied à Terre at the helm. The Mediterranean restaurant serves up a selection of grilled fish and carefully sourced meats. Interiors feature warm, earthy tones, a stone bar and bronze accents.

The team behind the Pelican and Canteen in London’s Notting Hill have launched Italian restaurant CeCe’s. The latest Public House Group serves Italian dishes with “a hint of Hollywood”. The restaurant is spread across two floors, featuring soft fabrics, glossy finishes and low-level lighting.

Six Senses has made its UK debut following a decade-long transformation of the historic, Grade II-listed Whiteleys department store in London’s Bayswater, first opened by English entrepreneur William Whiteley as a drapery shop in 1863. It now features 109 rooms and suites, 14 Six Senses Residences (available to rent to hotel guests) and a 25,000 sq ft Six Senses Spa London. Several F&B outlets, all with open kitchens, showcase sustainability-driven menus created by executive chef Eliano Crespi and the group’s first fermentation expert, Jelena Belgrave.
