South London sandwich brand Mondo Sando is set to open its second site next month.
Mondo To Go is opening in Deptford on 10 April, and will primarily be a takeaway site, but with 50 seats outdoors.
After a run of pub residencies, founders Jack Macrae and Viggo Blegvad launched a permanent kitchen at the Grove House Tavern in Camberwell.
The duo then opened its first brick-and-mortar venue Café Mondo on Peckham Road in 2024.
Mondo To Go will offer Mondo signature sandwiches and sides including Mondo Frango and Mondo Combo, as well as its house pickles and latkes, while new menu additions will be exclusive to its Deptford site.
Speaking of opening a new site in a different location, the duo said: “After many years working in Camberwell, five minutes from Jack’s flat, it’s only fair we open a site in Deptford, five minutes from Viggo’s.”
Mondo Sando’s new opening follows growing appetite for sandwich firms across the UK. Oxford sandwich and deli company Taylors opened its ninth site earlier this month, while Sandwich Sandwich unveiled plans to open 25 sites across London last March.
