Oxford sandwich and deli company Taylors has opened its ninth site, launching a flagship café at Oxford North, the city’s new innovation district
The 80-cover venue, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating, is located on the ground floor of Red Hall, the hub for science and innovation start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Alongside a menu of sandwiches, salads, pastas and hot and cold drinks, the family-owned business also provides catering services for meetings and events.
Taylors, which was founded in 1991, now employs around 90 people across its nine sites.
Writing on LinkedIn yesterday (3 March), Juri Vahala, chief executive of Taylors, said: “Delighted to announce that Taylors Oxford is now open at Oxford North!
“Having been involved from day one in terms of the cafe design and set up, it is brilliant to now see it trading. From early design discussions to shaping how hospitality could support the wider masterplan, this has been about embedding Taylors into the fabric of a new district rather than simply taking a unit.”
Vahala went on to say that he hopes the site will welcome a variety of customers including researchers, entrepreneurs, office teams, and families in the wider Oxford community.
Taylors expansion follows growing appetite for sandwich firms across the UK. Sandwich Sandwich unveiled plans to open 25 sites across London last March, while US-based grab-and-go chain Which Wich pledged to open 30 stores across the UK following its 2023 debut.
