The new event will explore the upcoming Employment Rights Bill and debate how this might impact hospitality
The forthcoming Employment Rights Bill, set to introduce sweeping changes for hospitality employers, will be debated by sector experts at The Caterer’s new Breakfast Briefing Live event this November.
Held in partnership with headline sponsor Harri and supporting partner JustTip, the free event will take place on 4 November at Uncommon in Holborn, London, and aims to unite senior HR professionals and hospitality leaders to unpack one of the most significant legislative changes on the horizon for the sector.
Caroline Baldwin, deputy editor at The Caterer, said: “We’re very excited to launch our Breakfast Briefing Live events and our very first one is debating the upcoming Employment Rights Bill and how this might impact hospitality.
“The Caterer’s Breakfast Briefing Live events are designed to give you the opportunity to network over coffee and breakfast, listen to an important panel debate and quiz our hospitality experts, all before you’ve even started your working day."
Baldwin added the event “will unpack one of the biggest upcoming legislative shifts for hospitality – make sure you sign up to be in the room”.
With a brilliant line up of speakers including David Sheen, public affairs director at UKHospitality, and 2024 Hotel Cateys People Manager of the Year Kirsten Price, head of people and culture at the Belfry, audience members will gain first-hand insight from leading experts and fellow HR leaders on how operators are preparing for increased regulation and employee rights and strategies to reduce risk, manage change and stay ahead of compliance challenges.
David Sheen, public affairs director at UKHospitality, said: “Now is the time for operators to engage with the detail of the bill to understand its implications for statutory sick pay, zero-hour contracts, day one rights and more”.
He added: “This event is the perfect opportunity for operators to get under the skin of the Employment Rights Bill, what it could mean for their businesses and – crucially – how they should be preparing for its implementation, which will begin as early as April next year for some measures.”
Dan Maimone, head of global customer experience at Harri, said: “We all know hospitality is built on people, and the changes coming in 2026 will reshape how every operator manages and supports their teams.
“This is a generational change. These new regulations will bring fresh challenges, but also an opportunity to raise standards across the industry. Events like this are vital for HR leaders to cut through the noise and complexity, share experiences and prepare with confidence. At Harri, we’re committed to helping businesses not just stay compliant but keep people at the heart of hospitality.”
