The London-based caterer, which was founded by Alex Head in 2011, also works extensively with ex-offenders.
London-based independent caterer Social Pantry has secured B Corp certification.
Social Pantry was founded by Alex Head (pictured) in 2011 with the aim of serving fresh, sustainable food from its zero-to-landfill kitchen at venues and workplaces across the capital.
It is now listed in places such as Somerset House, the National Gallery and the Central Criminal Court.
Head has also committed to providing opportunities to prison leavers since the inception of the business and ex-offenders now make up roughly 10% of its workforce.
The caterer operates a café and training facility inside HMP/YOI Feltham.
Social Pantry worked with sustainability consultancy Bold Green Strategies throughout the B Corp assessment, which evaluates governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
It now joins the likes of hospitality businesses such as Fallow, Pizza Pilgrims and Bingham Riverhouse, all of which recently gained B Corp.
Alex Head, founder and chief executive of Social Pantry, said: “I couldn’t be happier or more proud to announce Social Pantry’s B Corp certification. This recognition reflects everything we stand for – our commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and creating a more inclusive future.
“I couldn’t have done this without our incredible team, our suppliers, and, of course, all of our clients who have chosen to work with us along the way. Together, we’re not only serving up great food – we’re creating positive change, one plate at a time and we can’t wait to continue pushing forwards with our mission, working towards new and even more impactful goals, like becoming net zero. Bring it on.”
