The family-run business said that if a sandwich can “ease the burden”, it is “our duty” to help
Bristol-based sandwich purveyor Sandwich Sandwich has announced it will hand out free meals to those struggling financially.
In a post on Instagram yesterday (20 January), the family-run sandwich shop stated that “from today onwards, if you’re struggling and we can help by feeding you at no extra cost until you’re back on your feet, please reach out”.
It went on to say that if providing a sandwich can “ease the burden”, then the business believed it is “our duty to do so”.
Sandwich Sandwich previously offered free meals over the festive period, but said the initiative is now open to “anyone who needs regular support”.
The business was founded in 2010 as Cotham Sandwich Co by self-taught chef Nick Kleiner and rebranded to Sandwich Sandwich in 2012. It operates four sites across Bristol and London and is opening an outpost in Dubai later this year.
The Dubai opening will mark the group’s first franchise venture, as it looks to expand both in the UK and internationally using the model.
The recent move comes during a period of strong growth for the business, which has built a cult following for its generously filled sandwiches. The brand regularly attracts long queues at its sites and has racked up millions of views across social media platforms.
