The announcement comes three years after the restaurant’s launch
Koyn in London’s Mayfair has announced its closure after three years of trading.
The restaurant was launched by father and daughter duo Samyukta and Dinesh Nair as part of their LSL Capital group in September 2022. It was their fifth project in Mayfair at the time of its opening.
Former Nobu head chef Rhys Cattermoul was involved in the restaurant, which served dishes such as steamed clams ‘nabe’ with cordyceps mushroom, yuzu sake soy, spinach and samphire.
In a post on Instagram, the Koyn team said: “Koyn will close its doors for the final time on Saturday, 27 September.
“As we serve our last guests at Grosvenor Street, we look back with gratitude on an unforgettable journey through the flavours of Japan and Thailand.
“What began as a bold harmony of Japanese elegance, became something stronger with the Thai fire: a love for storytelling through cuisine. Though we bid farewell to Grosvenor Square, Koyn’s spirit lives on, ready to ignite in new spaces and new stories we are excitedly waiting to tell in the heart of Mayfair.”
Meanwhile, spin-off brand Koyn Thai, which is based underneath the main restaurant on Grosvenor Street, is believed to be looking to relocate.
LSL Capital also operates Mimi Mei Fair, Jamavar, Bombay Castle and Nipotina.
