The latest hospitality venues to open their doors across the UK in December 2024
We’re well into the festive season as 2024 draws to a close. From cozy retreats at the newly opened Saltmoore in North Yorkshire, which is set to feature the finest dishes form chefs Adam Maddock and Tommy Banks, to spicy chicken tenders at one of London’s most talked about openings – Dave’s Hot Chicken – December is proving to be a colourful month for hospitality. Flat Iron has opened a 140-cover restaurant in London’s Victoria. Occupying a three-story Victorian style mansion above the tube station, the diner features deep earthy tones, oak panelling and vintage cabinets. It will offer Flat Iron’s signature steak, as well as sides such as beef dripping chips and creamed spinach.

Lussmanns has opened inside a Grade II-listed Georgian building in Woburn, Bedfordshire. Founder Andrei Lussmann has worked closely with builder Michael Rhodes for the group’s seventh restaurant. The first floor features two private dining rooms, while the 70-metre outdoor garden can also seat guests during the summer months.

Steakhouse Cow & Sow has opened its doors in Birmingham, marking the brand’s first restaurant outside of Bristol. The steaks are sourced from South West farms and are available alongside a selection of sides, including the signature crispy onion blossom with black garlic dip.

Specialty coffee brand % Arabica is set to launch its fourth London store at Battersea Power Station. Founded by Kenneth Shoji, the Ciguë-designed coffeehouse takes its inspiration from the Japanese concept of kenbun (meaning ‘to see and to hear’). It will also offer pastries and desserts such as cashew almond croissant, white chocolate miso cookie and vanilla canelé.

Chef-restaurateur Edward Delling Williams and Harneet Baweja of Gunpowder Group and the Bib Gourmand-winning Empire Empire have partnered to launch Moi et Toi within Gunpowder in London’s Tower Bridge. Guests will be able to try a selection of freshly baked goods alongside Monmouth coffee in the mornings, which will make way to lunch and dinner sittings.

Farmer J has launched its 13th site in London’s Russell Square. The brand first launched in London in 2016 and has plans to open eight more sites in 2025. The newest Farmer J offers beer and cocktails, as well as a Fieldplates menu, which will complement its signature Fieldtray and Fieldbowls.

Dubai-based restaurant Somewhere has opened at the Harrods department store in London’s Knightsbridge. The Middle Eastern-fusion diner offers 60 covers indoors and up to 14 covers on the terrace.

Luxury and wellness resort Saltmoore has opened within an 85-acre estate in North Yorkshire, offering 72 bedrooms, a Windsmith Skin spa and restaurants from chefs Adam Maddock and Tommy Banks. Its Beach House is set to open in 2025 with 29 bedrooms, some of which will have a freestanding bathtub.

Los Angeles chicken chain and social media sensation Dave’s Hot Chicken has opened its first UK site in London’s Shaftesbury. It comes after the brand, founded by three Armenian-American childhood friends, signed a deal with Zizzi operator Azzurri Group to open 60 restaurants across the UK. The two-floor, 90-cover site offers a range of spice levels, including the Reaper, which is known to be painfully hot.

Pan-Asian restaurant the Laquer Room has opened at the Ellen Kensington hotel in London with chef Eugene Lam at the helm. The 123-cover diner also has a private outdoor terrace and private dining room, which can seat 20 guests.
