Around 100 firefighters were called to the mixed-use building in London’s White City over the weekend
Chef Endo Kazutoshi’s Michelin-starred Endo at the Rotunda has been caught in a major fire involving 100 firefighters over the weekend.
The eighth-floor restaurant is understood to have closed temporarily.
It comes roughly a year after Endo at the Rotunda reopened in summer 2024 following an extensive refurbishment.
The omakase restaurant first opened its doors in April 2019 and went on to win a Michelin star in 2020.
The fire affected the top floors of the nine-storey building in London’s White City, which was once part of the BBC’s Television Centre.
The London Fire Brigade’s Fire Investigation Unit is looking into the cause.
According to an incidents report from London Fire Brigade, 15 fire engines and around 100 firefighters were called to the fire on Wood Lane on Saturday (6 September).
One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
Station commander Graham Beers said: “This was a complex fire at the top of the building and firefighters worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading. Two 32-metre turntable ladders attended and were deployed as water towers to help extinguish the fire from height. The Brigade’s drone team also attended, providing the incident commander with a greater situational awareness of the fire.”
The Brigade worked alongside multi-agency partners, including the Metropolitan Police, to evacuate more than 20 residents from the building, while buildings in the area were also evacuated as a precaution.
