The group said it was “cheaper to close than stay open”
MeatLiquor has closed its Leeds restaurant after 11 years of trading.
In a post on Instagram, the group said the cost of everything had gone up and it was “cheaper to close than stay open”.
MeatLiquor’s seven London restaurants and its site in Brighton continue to trade as normal.
The post read: “After 11 years, almost to the day since we opened, we’ve called last orders in MeatLiquor Leeds. Cost of living up. Cost of beef up. Cost of EVERYTHING up.
“We’ve poured everything we had into making it work and stay open as long as we can but it’s cheaper to close than to stay open…Leeds — thank you for everything, you’ve been AMAZING.
“The biggest thanks of all goes to our team, past and present, who poured the pints, smashed the burgers and made the magic happen every single day.”
MeatLiquor was founded by Scott Collins and Yianni Papoutsis as a London street food van, and opened its first restaurant in Marylebone in 2011.
Collins launched sports bar BloodSports in Covent Garden in London earlier this year.
