The general manager of the Hilton Glasgow received the Industry Award in recognition of his 40-year commitment to hospitality
Calum Ross, general manager of the Hilton Glasgow, took home the prestigious Industry Award at the annual Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland’s Industry Dinner.
Ross was recognised last night (5 June) at a glittering ceremony held at the Hilton hotel in Glasgow, which was attended by high-profile figures from the Scottish hospitality industry.
The passionate hotelier was praised for his 40-year commitment to the sector, having held senior positions at the likes of Stakis, Jarves and Hilton hotels, and for participating in the 2011 Kilimanjaro expedition to raise £150,000 for HIT Scotland’s scholarships.
Meanwhile, Glenn Woodage, premium business manager for Whyte and Mackay, was presented with the Future Leader Award to honour his drive towards the industry. He has supported the HIT Scotland Futures Group, a networking group dedicated to young professionals in hospitality, and also completed the HIT the Hebrides fundraising challenge.
David Cochrane, chief executive of HIT Scotland, said: “The HIT Industry Award and Future Leader Award represent the pinnacle of this success, recognising the industry’s most dedicated and impressive professionals. We were overwhelmed by the number and quality of nominations this year, which is a testament to the commitment and professionalism of those working in Scotland’s hospitality sector.
“It was not an easy decision, however, Calum and Glenn stood out for their willingness to go above and beyond to raise the standards for the hospitality industry. They are worthy winners, displaying all of the positive traits that make our industry so special. Congratulations again to our 2025 winners!”
The HIT Industry Award is delivered in association with The Caterer and Brakes Scotland.
HIT Scotland was established in 1994 to support the hospitality professionals through the provision of scholarships.
