The growing pub group has joined forces with former Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons chef Rick Owens for its second site.
The Montgomery Group is set to open the Bat and Ball pub with rooms in Cuddesdon, Oxfordshire this week.
It is the second opening from the pub group, which was founded by Ben Moss in 2021 and launched the Lamb Inn in Little Milton, Oxfordshire in 2022.
Moss has partnered with head chef Rick Owens, who previously worked at the two Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons as demi-chef de partie and later as sous chef at the H-Club restaurant within Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Owens will serve dishes such as cajun corn ribs; chicken liver and port parfait with shallot crumb and sourdough; bacon chop with crispy fried egg, house slaw and skinny fries; and apple and blackberry crumble.
The Bat and Ball will be working closely with suppliers such as the Calnan Brothers in Watlington, Flying Fish Seafood, DBF Banbury and Somerset-based Longman’s Cheese.
The 50-cover pub will open on 8 January with an outdoor terrace and five bedrooms consisting of three king suites, a king room and a smaller double.
Room rates will range between £140 and £220.
Each of the rooms have been painted in Farrow & Ball and feature fabrics supplied by G P & J Baker, Jane Churchill and Sanderson Designers Guild to create a cosy atmosphere.
Moss said: “It brings me so much joy to breathe life into this community venue. Our mission is to create inclusive spaces where everyone can gather to enjoy great food, drinks, and hospitality. The Bat and Ball will be a quintessential local pub, perfect for a casual pint with your dog or indulging in hearty British pub grub.”
The pub group is a separate business to the hospitality events company of the same name.
