The Scottish chef behind the Michelin-starred Kitchin announced he will close Kora at the end of January.
The leasehold for chef Tom Kitchin’s Kora restaurant has been put up for sale ahead of its closure at the end of the month.
The Scottish chef announced last week he would permanently close the Edinburgh restaurant after less than three years of trading due to the challenging economic climate.
The lease for Kora at 14-17 Bruntsfield Place has been put on the market with an annual rent of £50,000. The restaurant features a bar and restaurant area with capacity for 80 covers.
It occupies the ground floor and basement of a tenement unit in Bruntsfield, which was formerly home to three shop units.
The commercial kitchen was designed by Kitchin himself and claims to offer “state-of-the-art” equipment.
Kitchin said: “Kora has been an incredible journey, and I’m extremely proud of what we’ve built here. This decision was not made lightly, but I believe it is the right time to pass the torch to someone else as we move onto new ventures.”
Peter Seymour, director of the hotel and leisure team at Graham + Sibbald, who is marketing the leasehold interest in the site, added: “The availability of Kora is a fantastic opportunity in a prominent location. The restaurant scene in Edinburgh remains one of the best in the UK. We expect there to be significant interest in this stunning opportunity. Viewing is most definitely recommended.”
Graham + Sibbald said it is inviting “offers invited for the leasehold premium for the leasehold interest”.
Kitchin continues to operate sister restaurants the Bonnie Badger, the Scran & Scallie and the Kitchin, which holds a Michelin star.
