The hotel was put on the market for almost £5m six years ago
The four-AA-star Ballathie House hotel in Perthshire, Scotland has been sold to IMR Hotels for an undisclosed sum.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed but the property was put on the market by long-time owner John Mulligan in 2019 for almost £5m.
Ballathie House dates to the 17th century and has been used as a hotel since 1972. It holds four AA stars and is home to a two-AA-rosette restaurant.
Its new owners are planning a renovation of the estate and reposition it as a destination for “outdoor enthusiasts and wellness seekers”.
The hotel will remain open during the works, which will include an overhaul of the bedrooms, dining spaces and leisure facilities.
Ishaan Ganju, director at IMR Hotels, said: “This acquisition is the start of an exciting journey. We are honoured to carry forward the legacy of Ballathie House Hotel & Country Estate while reimagining it for the next generation of travellers.
“When complete, Ballathie House Hotel & Country Estate will emerge as a premier destination for outdoor pursuits, fishing and wellness, blending traditional outdoor activities with modern luxury and sustainability.”
IMR Hotels runs a wider luxury conference, events and travel business.
