George’s Dining Room also owed roughly £40,000 to its staff, according to a Statement of Affairs filed on Companies House
The company behind Ryan Giggs’ George’s Dining Room and Bar in Salford owed nearly £500,000 to creditors upon its closure, documents have shown.
A Statement of Affairs for RKB Ventures filed on Companies House revealed the restaurant owed £495,145 to creditors, including £39,986 to its 22 employees.
Creditors included suppliers such as Robert Wellock & Son (£2,014), Catering Fresh (£10,997) and Boutinot Wines (£8,114), as well as HMRC and National Westminster Bank.
The former Manchester United star was owed nearly £100,000 (£99,925), while co-owner and school friends Bernie Taylor and Kelvin Gregory were each owed £12,950 and £53,254.
George’s Dining Room was launched by Giggs, Taylor and Gregory in 2014 but closed suddenly in February last year.
It comes after losses grew at Giggs and Gary Neville’s Stock Exchange hotel in Manchester for the year ended December 2023, with loss before tax rising from £1.9m to £2.5m.
In January this year, Gary Neville and his investment business Relentless Stox Investments Ltd had also ceased to be a person with significant control over Finestday, the company behind the Stock Exchange hotel.
