While food inflation has eased slightly – helped by falling prices in rice, bread and cereals – key commodities like coffee, cocoa and beef continue to rise sharply.

Over the past five years, food and non-alcoholic beverage prices have soared by approximately 37%. By comparison, the preceding decade saw only a 9% increase, according to the Office for National Statistics.

That means your food purchasing will likely cost more in the months ahead, especially if you’re not supported by a food procurement team expertly analysing, negotiating and managing suppliers on your behalf.

In April, higher labour costs were added to the mix, with the National Minimum Wage and employer National Insurance Contributions both rising. For caterers, particularly those in labour-intensive sectors such as hospitality, this significantly squeezes margins.

Food production and distribution costs are also under pressure. In response, allmanhall are working in close collaboration with suppliers to negotiate cost-to-serve pressures, leveraging circa £70m in annual purchasing volume to deliver tangible savings for clients. That’s serious buying power – and the results are being enjoyed by allmanhall’s many client partners as substantial food cost savings

“Working with allmanhall has been better than having our own purchasing department. The benefits are not just financial… Nothing is too much trouble” Sue Bradwell, managing director, Midshire Signature Services

In today’s volatile environment, expert food procurement and supply chain management are not optional extras – they are essential. As an extension of your catering operations, allmanhall provide the strategic insight, supplier management and consolidated billing that give you control, transparency and peace of mind.

New VICS Circle

Oliver Hall, managing director of allmanhall, warns: “The effects of government policy will likely be felt in the form of higher food prices in the coming years... Choices made today will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of food security.”

From tracking every penny of spend to identifying savings opportunities and promoting sustainability – all whilst leaving you in control – allmanhall deliver food procurement that’s both cost-effective and values-driven.

Because good food shouldn’t cost the Earth.
