Billingsgate Seafood School expands its trade offering

Billingsgate Seafood School, in the heart of London's famous Billingsgate market, has released its programme of trade courses for 2015, specifically designed for those who are already in the food sector, such as chefs and caterers, as well as those looking to get into the fish industry.

The Fish and Seafood Quality Assessment class is aimed at food inspectors, technical managers and environmental health practitioners who are keen to know how fish and shellfish are traded and the current food labelling and packing requirements.

All trade courses are overseen by Adam Whittle, industry consultant at Billingsgate, who has compiled programmes that cater for all needs within the food sector.

Billingsgate has also created a new breakfast experience for consumers over the Christmas period. The Billingsgate Christmas Breakfast, available for £35, allows visitors to experience a breakfast incorporating fish from the market as well as inspiration and ideas for using fish over the festive period. For an additional £10 visitors can opt into a guided walk around the market before breakfast begins.

CJ Jackson, principal of the Billingsgate Seafood School and CEO of the Billingsgate charity, said: "We are excited to offer these new trade courses in 2015 and are extremely lucky to be able to have such an experienced team at our fingertips. The school is going through an exciting period of change and these trade courses, along with the breakfasts, are just a taste of what will be taking place over the next 12 months."
