The Caterer and TalkTalk Business are hosting a free webinar to discuss the technologies powering hospitality businesses to solve the staffing crisis.
The search for hospitality staff remains a critical problem for the industry. Businesses are working tirelessly to keep their doors open and continue offering guests the best service possible while dealing with staff shortages.
In the webinar we question whether hospitality operators should look to technology and automation solutions to keep businesses afloat and customers satisfied. While this can mean robots roaming the hotel lobby as digital concierge or clearing empty plates in a restaurant, it can also materialise as more subtle uses of automation technology, such as artificial intelligence-powered chatbots to assist customer queries, technology to manage food waste or apps to automate the procurement processes.
“Robots and automation were once thought of as futuristic technologies that were a threat to people's jobs, but what if, in fact, they were efficient solutions to free-up existing staff members to concentrate on delivering the best customer experience during busy periods?” asked The Caterer’s features and special projects editor Caroline Baldwin.
Jane Pendlebury, chief executive of HOSPA, who will be joining the event’s panel of experts, added: “Technology should always improve efficiency, freeing up hospitality employees to allow more face-to-face interaction with guests. While tech doesn’t always reduce head count, it will typically remove some of the more mundane tasks and certainly improve both job satisfaction and flexibility.”
