Garry Baldwin has revealed he will be stepping down from his role as managing director of New Forest Collection, after nearly six years at the company.
Prior to that, Baldwin had spent 10 years at the AA, moving up the ranks from hotel and restaurant inspector, assistant area manager – London and UK South, to senior inspector – area manager.
A graduate of hotel and catering management from the University of Surrey, Baldwin’s previous operational hotel experience included working for Cunard; Bovey Castle on Dartmoor, Devon; Danesfield House, Marlow, Buckinghamshire; and Pennyhill Park, Bagshot, Surrey.
Commenting on his departure from New Forest Collection, Baldwin said: “A decision not made lightly, but most definitely at the right time for me personally after nearly six years. It has brought me huge happiness to see so many team members develop during my time with the collection, many have been promoted, grown or developed successfully into new positions with others moving on to greater hospitality opportunities.
“Making decisions that impact our environment, teams and of course our guests has certainly kept the New Forest collection truly part of the wonderful National Park, I do hope that this link to this unique destination is continued where great foundations have been built.”
He hinted at the upcoming announcement of a “new opportunity which I look forward to making a positive impact on”.
The New Forest Hotels portfolio includes Bartley Lodge, near Lyndhurst; Beaulieu hotel, near Beaulieu; Forest Lodge, Lyndhurst; Moorhill House, Burley; Burley Manor, Burley; and the Drift Inn, near Lyndhurst.
