The freehold of Treloyhan Manor hotel in Carbis Bay, St Ives, has been put on the market for £1.75m after falling into administration earlier this year under the Christian Guild.
The 39-bedroom property was constructed in 1892 as a private house by Edward Hain, a Cornish shipping magnate.
Christian Guild confirmed last summer that it had decided to close and sell two of its three hotels. However, the company suffered sustained cashflow difficulties due to the pandemic, and Yasmin Bhikha and John Lowe from business advisory firm FRP were appointed as joint administrators in January.
Administrators are also understood to be seeking a sale of the group’s other two hotels, Sidholme hotel near Exeter and Willersley Castle in Matlock, a Grade II-listed building in Derbyshire.
James Greenslade, director in the hotel capital markets team at Savills, which is marketing the property, said: “St Ives is a popular seaside town surrounded by sandy beaches and beautiful scenery, which is ideal to capture the growing staycation market and the expected surge of domestic holidaymakers this summer. Demand for assets in holiday destinations remain strong and we expect there to be significant interest in this manor hotel.”
