The Glasshouse in Kew to close after 23 years

The Glasshouse restaurant in Kew is to close on 17 September after 23 years of trading.

The restaurant is owned by Nigel Platts-Martin and Bruce Poole, who operate Michelin-starred London restaurants Chez Bruce in Wandsworth and La Trompette in Chiswick.

The Glasshouse announced the news on its website “with great sadness”.

It added: “We would like to thank all of our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us over this period.”

The Glasshouse received a Michelin star in 2002, three years after its opening.

In February 2018, Greg Wellman joined as head chef. The menu offering featured dishes such as roasted and shaved cauliflower with cashew milk, black truffle and soused king oyster mushrooms; and crisp sea bream with chorizo picante, borlotti beans, courgettes, chilli, anchovy and garlic.
