David Whitney, the current owner who plans to retire, will also consider selling the leasehold of the Grade II-listed property for £250,000.
Previous owners of the hotel include Historic Sussex Hotels and Gales Brewery. Whitney has himself owned the property twice, having first bought it in 1992 and reselling it 10 years later before acquiring it a second time in 2013.
"Since then, we have greatly upgraded the facilities and successfully increased the turnover year-on-year," said Whitney. "I am very proud that our hard work has secured the future of the Angel. However, we are aware that with great opportunities yet to be exploited, the business requires younger hands and minds to carry this wonderful and historic hotel to the next level."
Nick Earee of Fleurets, the agent selling the Angel, added: "The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the South Downs National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Goodwood Motor Circuit and Goodwood Race Course are also very nearby, and the hotel has a strong relationship with Goodwood having hosted various VIPs and sponsors."
