Brindisa Kitchens to open largest tapas restaurant yet this autumn

Spanish restaurant group Brindisa Kitchens is to open its largest site yet, and first in the UK outside central London, later this year.

Tapas Brindisa Richmond will launch in the south London suburb in October, overlooking the River Thames. The restaurant brand's sixth site will have 150 indoor covers, 60 on a terrace and a further 20 in a ‘Bodega Room’ for private bookings, which will offer curated Spanish cheeses, Ibérico hams and rare wines.

Open from 9am-11pm, the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer classic Brindisa dishes, an extended bar menu and ‘Spanish-style Sunday feasting’. The main dining room will feature booth seating and an open kitchen.

The wider Brindisa business was founded by Monika Linton (pictured) in 1988 when it began supplying Spanish products to UK restaurants, delis and food halls.

Linton continues to run the business alongside co-owner Ratnesh Bagdai, and the pair opened their first tapas bar in London’s Borough Market in 2004.

“While the hospitality industry remains challenging, this Richmond site offers our estate a great opportunity to continue our timely well-paced growth and provides another solid step forward for our talented teams and leaders,” said Bagdai.

Brindisa Kitchen also runs restaurants in London Bridge, South Kensington, Soho, Shoreditch and at the Battersea Power Station development.

It opened a restaurant in Barcelona, Spain in 2015, but it has since closed.
