Sessions to open two further food halls in 2022 after raising £7.3m

Sessions, the hospitality start-up which runs a food hall on Brighton seafront, has raised £7.3m towards its expansion plans.

The company, led by former Deliveroo managing director Dan Warne, has secured funding in a Series A round led by Guinness Asset Management.

It is aiming to open two more food halls in 2022 and 500 kitchens that will be a mix of delivery-only and dine-in venues run with its restaurant and catering partners. A Sessions Studio will also launch, designed to pair "aspiring founders with culinary support".

Sessions opened Shelter Hall in Brighton in 2019 which houses 13 local restaurant brands, including Oxblock by 2018 MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt. The company aims to use its sites as incubators for new hospitality concepts.

It also runs over 50 delivery kitchens nationwide, where customers can order food from a range of brands that Sessions has partnered with.

Ashley Abrahams from Guinness said: “We are very excited by this investment and Session’s mission, which is made even more compelling by the quality of the team behind it.

“True disruptors in the hospitality sector, the hybrid physical and digital model of Sessions is of intense interest to us and we’re looking forward to watching the partnership between Sessions and Guinness grow.”
