The Savoy hotel in London is to open the all-day dining Gallery restaurant alongside a scone shop and florist
The Savoy hotel in London is to open three new outlets, including a new all-day restaurant.
The Gallery restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with dishes inspired by Auguste Escoffier, chef at the Savoy when it opened 135 years ago. It will open alongside a scone shop and florist outlet.
The Gallery restaurant will take the site of what was the Thames Foyer. The space has been designed by London-based studio BradyWilliams and features contemporary murals alongside wall panelling, leather seating and low-level table lighting.
Its lunch and dinner menu will feature dishes such as sole tacos with flavour combinations inspired by Escoffier’s sole veronique. Other notable dishes on the all-day menu include Cornish tuna tataki and charcoal-grilled organic chicken tikka pie.
The dedicated scone shop, Scoff, will serve baked scones with fillings including tiramisu and exotic fruit punch alongside traditional strawberries and cream.
The Savoy’s executive pastry chef Nicolas Houchet said: “It’s been a lot of fun creating the offering for Scoff, and something entirely new for us as a team to come up with. Forget all you think you know about the humble scone. This is a new, revamped version featuring fun and unique flavour combinations and a touch of Savoy flair.”
Meanwhile, the hotel will also open a florist, giving guests the opportunity to purchase arrangements created by its floral design manager Belinda Bowles.
