Rooney Anand's RedCat Pub Company acquires two new sites

RedCat Pub Company has added the Meynell Ingram Arms in Staffordshire and the Cock Inn at Mugginton in Derbyshire to its expanding portfolio.

Both properties have been acquired from Berkeley Inns Limited.

It comes after RedCat announced its acquisition of the Pheasant hotel and Blakeney Manor this June.

The Meynell Ingram Arms hotel was relaunched by Berkeley Inns in 2019 after over five years of closure, while the Cock Inn at Mugginton was reopened in 2016 and now seats over 120 people and serves 2,000 meals a week.

Since the company launched in February 2021 RedCat has acquired over 100 pubs and pub hotels, with its hotel estate now amounting to over 1,200 rooms.

The latest deal was made by Neil Morgan of Christie & Co on behalf of RedCat.

Howard Thacker, managing director of Berkeley Inns, said: “We acquired the Meynell and Cock Inn when both had been closed for five and ten years, respectively, and following much renovation and extension, gave them new life.

"Both are now fantastic and bustling pubs serving their local communities and visitors from afar. So, of course, we’re very sad to see them leave the Berkeley Inns family but are confident RedCat will do a fabulous job continuing or surpassing their current success. Berkeley Inns will now seek new acquisitions in the Midlands and London area and continue to grow the business.”

Rooney Anand, executive chairman at RedCat Pub Company, added: “RedCat continues to go from strength-to-strength...team is continuing to source high-calibre sites in excellent locations as we build out our estate of leading pubs and pub hotels.”

RedCat, founded by former Greene King chief executive Anand, aims to acquire quality inns and managed and tenanted pubs. It is backed by funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management L.P.
